Today, my youngest autistic son is starting secondary school π₯Ή that would make six years of daily healthy packed lunches just for him! Where has time gone!!
Before you label me as super woman, here is a reality check and something I am continuously working on to improve π While packing lunches is a non-negotiable habit in my morning routine, on crazy busy days becomes really the only thing I do before I start working from home.
On the days I go into the office, I do make an effort for skincare and dress up π on great days I get to eat breakfast too! π¬ shocking right?! I find it a no brainer to prioritise my kidsβ breakfasts and lunches but I do struggle with mine ones. This tends to happen when I lightly plan meals only with focus on dinners. So full meal planning is back starting with next week!

First packed secondary school lunch
Back to the first packed lunch on this new school year! π In UK, is normal for schools to start a new school year on a Thursday or Friday while the start of the week is reserved for teachers and staff to prepare to welcome the kids.
Fridays are also the day before weekly shopping π so there was no room for many options. Actually we had no bread or bananas left so had to send DH for a quick 7am run to the shop to grab some while I slowly spiralled into anxiety. Disaster was averted and living to tell the story π

Healthy packed lunchbox + 2 extra fruit packs for snack time
Lunch box contents:
- Chopped organic cucumber with salt
- Gluten free first day treat – half cake
- Chopped plums
- Gluten free sausages (dinner leftovers)
- Tuna sandwich (toasted gluten free brown bread, canned tuna in spring water, frozen sweetcorn, organic mayonnaise, salt)

Healthy lunch box ideas – pin it! π
There were many excuses I kept telling myself to donβt write this post, this unstaged, lonely everyday lunch box idea. But I love documenting and packing these lunches. Documenting because even if are simple combos, even I run out of ideas and has been super helpful at times to run through them to refresh my inspiration.
Another reality check π I would lie if I would say I find it super easy but from my experience I assure you that it can be done, healthily, continually and consistently for years. This is what makes it special, not new shiny tools, branded goods or elaborated meals or snacks!
So here I am to inspire more parents to take control of their children meals, thus their health and help them thrive!
Let me know in the comments if this has been helpful for you or if you have any questions!
